I'm delighted to welcome you to the Institute of Psychological Sciences. You have done extremely well to earn a place at the University of Leeds to study psychology - we select only the very best students. Moreover, you have arrived at the Institute at an incredibly exciting time. We have assembled an absolutely world-class team of staff who are committed to ensuring that IPS leads the world in its contributions to psychology through research and teaching. Our goal is to be at the forefront of cutting-edge research and provide the very best teaching available with research at the heart of the teaching experience. We are looking forward to working in partnership with you to place Leeds at the centre of UK psychology. This site aims to help you by providing you with information that you will need to settle in to your new life at Leeds. The web pages should be read alongside the Institute's Undergraduate Handbook which is available to you via the internet (through the 'VLE' - a site that will help you obtain all the information you need as a student at Leeds). We hope that you find these web pages useful. They include a time planner for 'week zero' (the week you arrive) to help you be in the right place at the right time; information about the Institute's peer mentoring scheme, answers to some frequently asked questions and a number of useful links to other Leeds University web sites. These pages should aid you to feel confident about arriving here and help make your first few weeks in Leeds an enjoyable experience. We will update the website regularly, so please check back from time to time.
