Biological Psychology area
Biological psychology is a tremendously exciting and diverse branch of the parent discipline. At Leeds, our research in this area falls predominantly within the fields of Behavioural Neuroscience and Human Nutrition for which we have dedicated state-of-the-art laboratories. Other research programmes in biological psychology exploit ethological techniques to examine human behaviour in its zoological context. The group has an extremely strong research profile and its senior members are world-renowned experts in their respective fields with publications in top ranked journals. Our work in these areas is truly global, with academic and industrial collaborations in Australia, New Zealand, South America, USA, Canada, and across Europe. Current funding is from EU Framework 7, BBSRC, ESRC, MRC and industry.
Whilst each group within Biopsychology has distinct research interests, some common themes are; energy balance, obesity, appetite regulation, impulsivity, reward, emotion, and learning mechanisms. The ability to collaborate with each other, combining expert knowledge and diverse methodology, brings strength to the group as a whole.
